RISE may update your sleep need estimate as it collects more data about your sleep patterns. The strongest signal RISE looks for is sleep rebound — periods when you consistently sleep longer than usual when given the opportunity.
- Rebound sleep suggests your sleep need may be higher, and RISE may adjust the estimate upward.
- Consistently sleeping less than the current estimate without showing rebound suggests your sleep need may be lower, and RISE may adjust downward.
- A stable estimate over weeks or months means RISE hasn't found a clear signal to change it — that doesn't indicate a problem.
What if my RISE sleep need seems wrong?
