To enable Motion & Fitness permissions for RISE, go to your iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Motion & Fitness and make sure both Fitness Tracking and RISE Sleep are toggled on.
How to enable Motion & Fitness for RISE on iPhone
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Motion & Fitness.
- Make sure Fitness Tracking is toggled on.
- Make sure RISE Sleep is toggled on.
If you don't see RISE Sleep in the Motion & Fitness list, try deleting and reinstalling the RISE app. When RISE reopens, it will prompt you to grant Motion & Fitness permission again.
Why does RISE need Motion & Fitness data?
RISE uses your iPhone's motion and step data to detect when you're asleep and when you're awake. This is how RISE estimates your sleep without requiring a wearable device. Motion & Fitness data is collected through Apple's Core Motion framework and processed on your device.
If Motion & Fitness permissions are turned off, RISE won't be able to detect your sleep automatically. You'll need to either log your sleep times manually each day or connect a wearable through Apple Health.
