If RISE says you woke up several times during the night but you don't remember waking, this is normal — and often accurate. Most people wake briefly several times each night without remembering it.
If the wake-ups seem excessive or wrong, the cause is usually how RISE is detecting your sleep:
- Phone motion and mattress detection can register false wake-ups from motion that isn't actually waking. Rolling over, shifting position, a pet bumping your phone, or a partner moving in bed can register as activity. Connect a sleep-tracking wearable so RISE uses its data instead — a wearable on your body may be less affected by these kinds of movements.
- Another app may be involved. If a different app is writing sleep data to Apple Health or Health Connect, that app's wake-up detection may be overriding your preferred source. Check your data source priority in the Health app (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android) to make sure your preferred device is at the top.
